What Does Integration as a Service Mean?

Integration as a service (IaaS) is a cloud service model for providing integration services between disparate data sources and the applications accessing them. It enables the use of cloud platforms or services to connect an enterprise to and allow it to collaborate with its internal IT systems and applications with one or more remote/external IT environments.

IaaS primarily provides similar data and software integration as in an offline or in-house integration application/service but uses the cloud for delivery or to enable integration. IaaS provides a comprehensive solution that removes system- and data-level interdependencies and provides a Web-based interface to connect backend data, files and applications with other data, applications and systems. Typically, integration as a service is implemented in B2B IT environments, where an organization needs to connect its data and applications with those of an external partner organization.
